About Me

Hi. My name is Nicholas Rudolph Quient. Or Nick works just fine.

I love my wife Allison, my cat Monty and my friends, which are numerous in number but numinous in intimacy. I also love craft beer and being a general smart ass. Theology and literature seem to occupy most of my life at the moment. I enjoy this.

I'm a moderate Republican. Pro-life, pro-welfare, pro-creation. As regards denominations, I'm more or less a hybrid between American Baptist and Episcopalian. More specifically, post-conservative evangelical with a maverick streak that includes eschatological uncertainty, biblical egalitarianism and an attempt at Christian humility in the face of the unknown.

My favorite books of the Bible are 1 Corinthians, Isaiah, Philippians, Colossians and Ephesians. More specifically, I'm a "Paul" guy.

I am an MAT student in New Testament & Greek at Fuller Theological Seminary. I am a graduate of Biola University and Saddleback College. More specifically then all that, just ask.

Follow me on Twitter.

  3. Hi!

My name is Allison Mahavier and I am a Community Ambassador at the Backplane. The Backplane creates online communities for people based on their affinities, interests, and movements. I took notice of your blog and thought you might be interested in our latest online community.

On March 3rd, the History Channel and Mark Burnett will be premiering a ten part series on the Bible. Each episode will be two hours long and is already receiving global attention. In conjunction with Mark Burnett, the Backplane has made an online community for The Bible series.

The site is an open and safe community for Christians to talk about their faith. When you log into our site (community.bibleseries.tv) you will find community members talking about a wide range of topics, from mission trips to stories about one’s personal journey with the Lord. Through chat rooms and authentic faithful discussions, Christians can congregate to talk about the Lord in conjunction with the Bible series. This is the ideal way to spread His message!

We hope you will join us on our mission to make this the most active and safe forum on the web for Christians.

    Best,
    Allison Mahavier

  8. I am enjoying your blog. Thank you! I wanted to share with you a recent music video. It shows a few of the storm we experience in life and the friend we have in Christ. I wrote the song a number of years ago and just this month a local video company decided to produce this music video to help promote the message that Christ is always here for us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5zgWIGuFZA&feature=c4-overview&list=UUl1L7BBWhJwmv68G5XoSOUw Thanks so much!
