Hopped and Bothered; Flying Dog Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout

Flying Dog -- Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout
Alcohol content 8.9%. Pours with a distinct lack of carbonation. No lacing. The first sniff reveals a roasted nutty flavor, coupled with a dab of anise and a wealth of espresso. Hoo boy. The sip is filled with coffee and malt, but surprisingly bitter. Bits of chocolate in the back. A fairly moderate flavor compared to the previous releases.

The finish is disappointing, quite thin and lacking in any staying power. A hint of creaminess would go a long way, but this is begging for more flavor. Maybe a bit of vanilla or more anise.

Buy if: you are down.

Overall: a solid if unremarkable imperial coffee stout.Wicked design though.

3 out of 5.
