Hopped and Bothered; Hangar 24 Double IPA

Alcohol content is 9%. The pour is smooth and the coloring is dark unfiltered amber. The scent is grapefruit, rind, malt and hints of lemon grass.

The first sip is conflicting. Bitter grapefruit, hints of grass and pine, and with a backing of sweet honey. It is sticky and stays sticky for a time. The alcohol and carbonation work nicely, working well in the throat and stomach, not detracting at all.

The finish is clean and malty, with bursts of tropical fruit and foliage. This is a big beer.

Buy if: you want a big DIPA with a nice balance of bitter and sweet.

Overall: an excellent example of balance, flavor and content. The beginning is strong and ends perfectly.

4.5 out of 5.
