Hopped and Bothered; Espresso Oak Aged Imperial Yeti
Great Divide -- Espresso Oak Aged Imperial Yeti
Alcohol content 9.5%. This was bottled in January of 2012. I pop the cap to reveal a wave of caramel and bitter hops. The scent is overpowering. It pours like motor oil, thick and angry and mean. I finally get it all into a glass and take my first sip. Espresso explodes over my palate, offering up a hearty dose of bitterness. The malts then take over, washing away most of the coffee and leaving a chocolate milkshake residue. Quite potent and invigorating. The coffee flavor does get a bit heated and the alcohol burn is a bit much on the side.
Buy if: you like coffee.
Overall: a hefty, mean, angry, slightly overpowering Imperial Stout. A wonderful experience.
