Marriage, Hell & Sunflower Seeds

The Inner Library (Wikipedia) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ee/Interior_Library.JPG
Its been a while since I've graced you with my presence. I trust you are well. Its been an odd couple of months. Allison has a new job that takes her away for 50 hours a week, and I'm working full-time as well. As I was making her dinner tonight, I was struck by how fun it can be, living this way. While I could certainly do without her being gone for such a long time per day, it gives me a chance to decompress and plan out the various items that need…decompression. With Fuller on the horizon (I will be attending the Fall quarter) for both of us (Allison got accepted into the PhD program at Fuller, so that's exciting!), its been a time of great anticipation.

On the hell front, I will be attending a theological conference in Houston, Texas at the Lanier Theological Library. This is the first time I've ever in a place hotter than the topic under discussion. I've submitted two papers to the conference and will be informed whether or not they've been accepted for reading. Since I've got the hook up (being a member of the team), I think I stand a good chance of being accepted. One of my papers is a historical survey of a famous philosopher and the other is on Paul. So, either way, I will be hanging out with Greg, Joey, Chris, Glenn, John Stackhouse, Ed Fudge and Sara Faye. So should be fun!

On the sunflower seed front, I've developed a crippling addiction. So nothing new to really report, except in the case of of the apocalypse, my body may be mined for new plant life.

Blessings. Thanks for reading. I'll try to keep my blog updated, and all that.

Eating Like a Damn Dirty Hippie, update

No, I did not fall off the wagon. Instead, I got so busy I couldn't keep this series updated. However, I've decided that alcohol is allowed in small doses provided there is now exercise involved. This includes walking, breathing, sleeping and eating my daily dose of bricks.

That is all.

Eating Like a Damn Dirty Hippie, days 6 & 7

So. Today was different. I went to a wine tasting for work, had some great wine and hung out with some cool people. Had Chick-Filet only because I was dying of hunger having not eaten the entire day.

So, I did some math and I gained about 100 calories today. Considering that I went a while without eating and while running around work, I'm entitled.

Roughly 100 goldfish. Some rice and plain chicken. A lot of tea. Two chick-filet sandwiches. A lot of wine. And some water.

And a lot more wine.

Eating Like a Damn Dirty Hippie, day 5

Day 5 sucks. Some goldfish. A ham sandwich. A glass of cranberry juice.

All came out to 1350 calories. I require around 1900 per day. I burned around 300 calories at work just walking around and lifting things. I put this addition to my diet around 1050 total calories consumed today.

I figure I might amend my diet to include alcohol. As long as it keeps me beneath 1900 calories. Yeah. Since all hippies do is smoke pot and drink booze, I might need to get into character.

My dinner tonight will consist of carrots, celery, water and maybe -- if I'm a good boy -- some more celery.

Lucky me.

Eating Like a Damn Dirty Hippy, day 4

Day 4. Been evil. Will have to watch my dinner diet.

Had celery, string cheese and tea this morning. Went for a walk.

Having a light dinner tonight.

Stomach is itching for some good mood food.

Eating Like a Damn Dirty Hippie, day 2

Okay. Diet this day (sigh):

Three corn tortillas. Some chopped chicken. Pepper. Salt. Three sticks of string cheese. A small apple.

and:

An entire pot of tea. Without any sugar or honey.

*sigh*

At first, I expect this to truly suck. No fast food, no crappy snaky treats. I think the mental part will suck the worst. Now, the physical aspects are going to be worse when the time comes.

I think I'm growing female reproductive organs. And voting democrat.

Eating Like a Damn Dirty Hippie, day 1

I figured I'd do something different and I want to try and kick my enjoyment of certain unnecessary foods. Here is the "Damn Dirty Hippie" eating habit rules that I will attempt to implement for the next month.

1) I will drink only water or tea. Nothing with alcohol or caffeine.*

3) No skin on chicken, no fat on anything (I eat one portion and nothing else) and no sauce. Meat is acceptable provided it is not fried.**

4) No fast food.

5) Primary diet is fruits and veggies.

6) Seasoning is limited to a pinch of salt and pepper.

7) No candy or crackers or snacky foods.

8) Bread is acceptable provided it is in the form of a sandwich and only two slices are used and it is multigrain.***

9) String cheese or milk is for my dairy intake. Nothing beyond this. No butter.

10) No eating after 9pm.

Final) For each time I break a rule, I add on a week of this diet.

My diet for today is:

(Note Yahtzee's expression; it is the same as my own right now)

*Hippies do drink alcohol and caffeine, but since it is often taxed and goes to fund PMCs, I consider it evil. Until the 30 days are up. Then it's back to supporting the use of terror and drinking alcohol.

**So I'm inconsistent with hippies, sue me.

***A last resort, of course.

Fingers and taste buds crossed,
